Service
Reefer containers
Reefer service: 48 reefer plugs, plugging-in, power supply and temperature monitoring to preserve sensitive cargo, with on-yard intervention.
Temperature-controlled cargo — foodstuffs, pharmaceuticals, perishables — demands uninterrupted vigilance. The MCTC terminal has 48 reefer plugs in a dedicated area of the yard, continuously powered and placed under the responsibility of a team trained in cold-chain operations.
The reefer service consists in powering refrigerated containers to preserve sensitive cargo: continuous 24/7 power supply, real-time temperature monitoring, plugging-in on arrival, safe unplugging on departure and optimised energy consumption.
As soon as it is discharged, every reefer container is moved with priority to the reefer area and plugged in. The temperature setting is checked against the shipping line’s instructions, then verified through regular readings, twice a day [TO BE CONFIRMED], recorded in a log. Any alarm or deviation triggers immediate intervention and notification to the line and, where applicable, to the consignee.
For exports, reefer containers are accepted plugged-in until loading, subject to the specific reefer cut-off [TO BE CONFIRMED]. Plugging and monitoring are charged per 24-hour period, in accordance with the tariff schedule in force; the free time applicable to reefers is reduced [TO BE CONFIRMED].
This organisation makes the terminal a dependable link in temperature-controlled supply chains between Matadi, Kinshasa and the interior of the country.
