Special cargo — OOG & dangerous goods
Out-of-gauge units and dangerous goods (IMDG): an enhanced offering in preparation — requests reviewed case by case [TO BE CONFIRMED].
Coming soonIndustrial development along the Matadi–Kinshasa corridor generates flows that exceed the standard container: mining and energy equipment, machinery, steel structures, project cargo, as well as goods classified as dangerous under the IMDG Code.
MCTC is preparing an enhanced offering for these traffics: formalised acceptance procedures, lifting studies for out-of-gauge units (OOG — including flat racks and open tops), IMDG-compliant segregation areas for dangerous goods, and personnel trained in the relevant hazard classes [TO BE CONFIRMED: scope of accepted classes]. This offering will open progressively, in step with the 2025–2027 terminal modernisation programme, and will be announced through our operational notices.
In the meantime, requests are reviewed case by case [TO BE CONFIRMED]. Each file undergoes a prior study: nature and classification of the cargo, dimensions and mass, safety data sheets, lifting equipment required, and the authorities’ requirements. No dangerous goods are admitted to the terminal without a complete prior declaration and MCTC’s written approval.
To prepare a project, contact our commercial team as early as possible: it is the condition for a safe operation without cost overruns.
