At MCTC, training is not a perk: it is the heart of the job. Port equipment operation, terminal procedures, ISPS security, computerised yard management tools — every employee follows a structured training path, delivered with the support of the MSC/TIL group’s international standards. Skills acquired in Matadi are skills recognised in ports the world over.
The successful integration of ONATRA staff
Close to 100 staff from ONATRA joined MCTC at the very start of operations in November 2024. Trained on the new equipment and the new procedures, they are today the backbone of the terminal’s operations. This integration reflects our conviction: the modernisation of the Port of Matadi is being achieved with Congolese skills, not instead of them.

No operation justifies putting a life at risk. Personal protective equipment provided, strict traffic rules across the terminal, the right to stop any unsafe operation, ongoing first-aid training: MCTC’s safety culture applies to everyone, from the quayside to senior management.
Modern equipment, modern professions
Mobile harbour cranes, reach stackers, computerised container yard management, a future rail connection: working at MCTC means practising your profession on brand-new equipment, in a terminal undergoing full transformation. The modernisation works mobilise more than 500 jobs and will lead to 200 permanent jobs by 2027.
